The 2021 temporary expansion of the Child Tax Credit (CTC) is unprecedented in its reach and is predicted to cut American child poverty by more than half. In order to understand the effect that the expansion has on American families, the Social Policy Institute in partnership with Humanity Forward and Washington University in St. Louis has conducted several research studies. In this report, we compare the employment, well-being, and financial security outcomes of families before and after receiving six months of CTC payments.
